"Listening to Nature from the Border Provinces" Project Successfully Completed
The "Listening to Nature from the Border Provinces" project, supported within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 4008 - Inclusive Society Practices Support Program for Individuals with Special Needs, was successfully completed by providing nature education to 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grade students with hearing loss.
The project in question was carried out by an experienced team consisting of academicians from our University, Süleyman Demirel University and Kafkas University.
As part of the project, sign language interpreters and volunteers provided health support to students during field work.
In the project, which was organized with the aim of covering topics covering various sub-branches of biology in the field and providing practical experiences, students' interaction with nature was increased with different methods such as sky observation, drama studies and social interaction-oriented activities.
Rector Alma Supported the Events
Our University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Hakkı Alma also attended the events organized for the project. Rector Alma made the following statements in his speech about the project:
“This project is of great importance in terms of enriching the learning experiences of our students with special needs by interacting with nature and strengthening their ties to nature. Supporting the excitement of discovering nature and the passion for learning of our hearing impaired students contributes to their personal and academic development. I would like to thank all our academics, volunteers and sign language interpreters who contributed to the project.”
